Apocalypse Later

The events in the eastern Mediterranean seem to have struck terror into a good many of our countrypeople whom we might normally expect to react with extreme ennui instead. It seems very doubtful that anything much will actually change as a result, since Israel, though stocked to the gills with weapons of mass destruction, would rather get its American benefactors' money's worth out of its impressive collection of "conventional" weapons first.
But just because the Zionist thirst for the blood of indigenous people requires two fronts to slake this week doesn't mean anyone with the wherewithal to stop them will do so this time. Hezbollah may have had some success with its endearing knock-off of an American predator drone, which as you might expect, they used far more cost-effectively than the Americans. But that, a few model rockets and the whole framework of international law are all they have going for them. That is not going to be enough so long as American policy is determined by the leadership of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
Of course, we wish the Lebanese and Palestinian populations of that part of the world whatever comfort there is to be found in the lopsided General Assembly and Security Council votes condemning the criminal Israeli government. At the same time, we have to hope that others begin to understand that these votes articulate the reasons that will, we trust, in the not too distant future, be expressed in indictments before a world judicial system that no longer requires permission from Israeli and American thugs before they can be tried and punished for their crimes.
